is a non-profit agency providing economic opportunities that strengthen individuals, families and communities in southeastern Minnesota.
The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) is a federal program which helps households pay heating and electricity bills.
Assistance is available because people with low incomes, of all ages with varying sources of income, might have a difficult time paying all of their bills, yet they must have heat and electricity in the winter.
Energy Assistance Program (EAP) Specialists process energy assistance applications; provide assistance to program participants by phone/mail/email to help them complete their application and submit the required documentation; and apply critical-thinking and multi-tasking skills while completing speedy and accurate data entry in a fast-paced environment.
EAP Specialists may also scan applications and other documents; handle EAP emails and mailings; provide in-person application assistance to program participants; conduct community outreach in the service region; and assist with other EAP-related tasks and initiatives.
EAP Specialists are responsible for following EAP guidelines, rules, and regulations, and attending necessary training to stay current on any changes that occur throughout the program year.
EAP Specialists refer and connect program participants to relevant energy assistance and other Community Action programs as appropriate.
This position requires professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to work with a diverse population, along with a driving desire to make a difference in the lives of low-income families and individuals throughout our region.

) Schedule is Monday-Friday with a flexible start time of 7am-9am.
Ideally, EAP Specialists work 40 hours per week, but we may consider a schedule of slightly less hours per week (will discuss if selected for interview).
Pay rate is $19.
00/hour; this may increase in January 2024 based on approval of the Agency's Board of Directors.
This position is based in Zumbrota.
EAP is a seasonal program with applications processed from approximately September through May each year.
Some EAP Specialists work more than six months during the EAP season and, therefore, are offered Agency benefits, while other EAP Specialists work less than six months during the EAP season which is considered temporary and, therefore, are not eligible for Agency benefits.
THIS SPECIFIC POSTING IS FOR TEMPORARY POSITIONS OF LESS THAN 6 MONTHS WITHOUT BENEFITS.
Successful individuals may be asked to return for future EAP seasons.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Two years of work experience using a computer, performing data entry, and providing customer service Ability to solve problems, identify new solutions, apply critical thinking and adapt to changing priorities, all while working in a fast-paced environment Extensive organizational and administrative skills, attention to details, and an ability to handle multiple tasks Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Experience with Laserfiche, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software Ability to work with the public, articulate ideas and work with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds Self-motivated and confident, with ability to work both independently and as part of a team Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Bilingual skills (spoken and written Somali/English or Spanish/English) preferred but not required Online application preferred.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
